Forest Glade 5's

Hopefully most of you are aware that on May 24^th – 25^th Forest Glade will be hosting its annual FG 5’s tournament. Forest Glade Fives has been running this tournament since 2000 and it has become one of the premier end of season 5 a-side football events for clubs in the South of England.

Teams are to consist of five players with up to five substitutes for age groups U6 to U10 and three substitutes for age groups U11 to U18. In previous years the two day tournament has attracted around 140 teams and over 2000 visitors to the ground. For the Under 6’s we have entered 3 teams from Forest Glade and to date there are a further 4 external teams entered in this age category. If you have not already done so can you please confirm to Stuart or one of the other coaches if your child is available to play in one of the teams. Note the Under 6’s are scheduled to play on Saturday 24^th.

The FG5s has earned a reputation as a fair and sporting event with a high standard of football. The tournament is also well known as being very efficiently run and organised. In order for the event to run so efficiently the club relies very much on volunteer help from all the teams over the two day event. Since the Under 6’s are playing on Saturday we are not expected to help out Saturday. However on the Sunday the FG U6’s are expected to help out with running the event which may include duties such as, car park duty, BBQ stand, sweet stand, teas and coffees, litter collection etc. If any of the parents or children are available and willing to help out on the Sunday then please can you let one of the coaches know as we need to confirm a helpers list to the club. Even if you can only help for an hour or so this will be greatly appreciated.

Finally the club are looking for any potential sponsors for the event to help with the funding of the trophies. If you know of anyone who you think would be willing to sponsor the event or some of the trophies then again please contact one of the coaches with the details.
