The Season ahead

With the season fast approaching we are again on the lookout for more sponsorship !!!

If you can help with any kind of sponsorship either personally or via a company we would be grateful if you could bring this to our attention.

Things we would like to purchase through the sponsorship contributions, Kit for the Panthers, Tracksuits for all the teams, Subs Jackets for the cold weather, Equipment for training, all items of clothing would be able to incorporate company logos etc

Chelsea Training Awards - Well Done Darcy & Joe

Well done to all the FG U7's who took part in the 2 day Chelsea training course at Barleylands earlier this week. I hope you all enjoyed the football, the coaching and learnt some new skills to show us. Given that this course was open to any football player (even outside of Forest Glade) it was fantastic to see the majority of the attendees were from our very own Under 7's team.

 

A special well done to Darcy from the Leopards and Joe from the Lions who both picked up special awards at the end of the course.

Kits

Kit again

Can you all please check what kit you have, each player ( Lions/Tigers/Leopards ) should have one home kit "Blue" consisting of 1 x shorts 1 x shirt 1 x socks and one away kit "Yellow" consisting of 1 x shorts 1 x shirt 1 x socks.

If you have any extra shorts or socks due to playing in different teams when squads were being selected please can you return them to one of the coaches.

Social media...........

Everybody seems to use some form of social media now days and it seems a waste to be left behind.

As a trial we are going to try and run a twitter account and Facebook group to inform parents of any Forest Glade Under 7 related issues, This will give another option to people who have been unable to check the blog, The blog will run in conjunction with the trial as pictures match reports and detailed information will still be posted on here.

We are trying to cover all bases with keeping you informed.

Chelsea Training

Chelsea FC are pleased to be running a training camp at Forest Glade FC

This will be a 2 day event, Tuesday 26th & Wednesday 27th August

Times - 9am registration, 9.30am - 3.00pm coaching

Age range available 4 - 12

Cost £20

IMPORTANT : TRAINING START DATE / TIME

All, due to lots of people being on holiday and availability of coaches we have decided to move the start of pre-season training back by 2 weeks. The 1st Saturday session back will now be Sat Aug 16th. Also please note that we are going to start training at the earlier time of 9am with the intention of finishing no later than 11am.

Also if you you have not paid your annual subs, please ensure these are in by Aug 16th for the start of training. We have been advised by the club that no FA playing cards can be handed out to players with outstanding subs.

End of a Season

So the 2013/14 season draws to an end and now we can all sit back, watch the World Cup and enjoy the 4 week summer break before getting into some pre-season training. Personally I think the Forest Glade Under 6's have taken a massive step forward this season and the level of progression has surpassed our expectations. I think all the coaches and kids deserve a huge pat on the back for their massive efforts during the season. The parents also deserve a big thank you for sticking with us and enduring some of those cold, wet, blustery mornings standing on the side lines just so your child can kick a ball!

There have been lots of exciting times and highlights to reflect on and also a few low points which we have learnt from. What excites me the most is that despite most of the team being together for around 2 years already, our journey is really only just beginning as we are about to enter our first ever season in the Mini Soccer League. Again the coaches thank you all for your support and encourage any feedback / ideas that you might have as we move forward to the 2014/15 season.

Anyway thanks to Nikola Webb I can share with you some pictures from our last training session of the 2013/14 season. It was one of our fun sessions which started off with one of Jason's sadistic obstacle courses. How the kids managed to run the course without appearing to be out of breath and wanting to go again is beyond me, the parents and coaches were blowing out of their backsides after 1 just lap! But it was good to see the team of coaches take revenge from the "parents vs coaches 5-a-side defeat" a few weeks back and storm to victory around the obstacle course in a time of 29 secs (no cheating what so ever!!!!).

At the end of the session the kids had some fun with another giant inflatable football (which remarkably didn't get burst this time). Then thanks to Coach Steve we had the goal radar system to measure ball striking speed. Some of the kids were striking the ball at over 50mph which is very impressive. However I think the parents/coaches were far more competitive and desperate to have the glory of hitting the top speed. I think the winning parent kick was in excess of 70mph in the end. Like a golf swing there is no right or wrong way of really striking a ball and it is interesting to look at the pictures and see the many different techniques in how the kids all kick a ball.

Berry Boys Tournament

GET IN THERE !!!

Today the Lions and Leopards travelled to Laindon for the Berry Boys Tournament, this tournament was set specifically for the under 6's and would consist of two groups, Group 1 would see our Lions team face opposition from Kelvedon Hatch, Hannakins Farm, Berry Boys and Corringham. Group 2 would see our Leopards face Kelvedon Hatch, Hannakins Farm and Thundersley Rovers.

Firstly congratulations to the Lions for winning their group, Although i did watch parts of their games i do not know the full scores and results, so hopefully one of the coaches or parents will be able to update this later and add some pictures.

With all the coaching and arranging of players it is hard to keep track of goal scorers and to write up a full play by play match report so i will let the pictures do the talking !!

FOREST GLADE LEOPARDS WIN WIN WIN WIN to become tournament champions in their group. The whole team played exceptionally well today and really seem to have found the style they want to play, We have a very strong team that will all battle for the ball and battle for their team mates, We are lucky enough that we have players that can play comfortably in a few positions, So a great big Well Done to them all.
